APOLLO JONES: HISTORY
Apollo was a single child, raised by his mother and father in a comfortable home at Rhode Island. His father before him was a murder mystery writer and avid hobbyist, who first introduced Apollo to the idea of homicide during his childhood. Apollo shared his enthusiasm, and over time, it became a means of connecting with his father, who was otherwise constantly busy jittering around the house, working yet seemingly distanced. This was the starting point of Apollo's twisted attraction to violent horrors, but as time passed, his father became more extreme about his work and his methods; even going to the extent of illegally obtaining evidence from past murder cases. His mother's patience with her husband's fanatical behaviour had been long strained, but at this she drew the line, and decided to move out. For a time, Apollo remained with his father until his mother officially divorced, and took custody of him.
In the years that followed, his father further derailed, but never officially descended into mental illness nor was charged with any offences. His mother remained stressed for years to come, and while they cared for each other, she and Apollo agreed to take care of themselves due to their pre-established mutual differences. Apollo's fascination for the macabre continued to grow and fester, and throughout his school years he excelled at an exceptional level. His father's intelligence had not been lost in Apollo, who received several scholarships and participated in several advanced learning programs, including accelerated university courses. For Apollo, it had always been clear that he would go into the field of crime and homicide investigations. After graduation, he continued his university studies, and upon his nineteenth birthday, he enrolled for the police academy. With his goals set before he began, he ascended to the position of detective quickly after his probation period as a police officer came to an end. During his time as an officer, he was exceptionally helpful to the assigned investigation teams whenever dispatched to homicide crime scenes. Upon promotion to detective, he made several advancements in cold cases, and solved one particular case that he had a special fascination with.
After serving for a time at Rhode Island, he learned of several cases of destructive happenings in England that had occurred in recent times, which where proclaimed to be "supernatural". Upon further research, he was able to find a pool of homicide cases which had similar claims attached to them. He made the decision to move and be transferred, believing the cases there would be more suited to his tastes. At age 23, he continued his university studies part-time.
Apollo's ESP abilities, inherited from his mother's side, never played a very large role in his life due to how minor and uncontrollable his abilities were. His mother actively discouraged him from paying his visions any mind, due to her own beliefs about the dangers of precognition. Apollo never shared her stance, and instead only used the visions to better his preparedness for the future.
