ALEX DE LUNE: HISTORY
(Content Warnings: Suicide, Self-Harm)
Alex grew up detached from his parents, who were too financially burdened to raise him themselves. He was mostly raised by relatives, and was eventually moved to France by his parents, to be with his grandfather, who wanted to employ him as an apprentice violin maker. At age 19 the pressure and contempt he received from his family (especially his grandfather), worsened by being stuck in the shadow of his overachieving younger sister, caused him deep depression and lead him to commit suicide. He made this attempt on his life at night, in a public place so that his body would be found quickly and news would swiftly reach his family. However, the building he attempted to jump off wasn't tall enough, leaving him paralysed and in an extreme amount of pain that could only kill him slowly. At this point he was found by Desmond Crest, who turned him into a vampire.
During this time, because of having no will to live, Alex was in a state of agony and directed most of his aggression towards Desmond. The two had a complicated relationship, because Alex was unstable, but still partially reliant on him. Wanting to die, Alex cooped himself up in an abandoned house, refusing to feed. While he was in a tormenting state of hunger that caused Alex to self-harm, Desmond was able to coerce him into feeding. Slowly, Alex recuperated slightly— just enough to function.
After coming to terms with his new state of being, he later left to join the vampire family of Rhodes Le Gros-Trim. Being able to keep in contact with Desmond and conduct himself in an environment suited to him, he remained with his vampire family for several years. He spent centuries studying and building knowledge, and began growing his wealth using this. In modern times, Alex began writing non-fiction and developing the qualifications to become a high-level educator.
When he began teaching, he met Rochelle, whom was a student at the time. The two gradually became involved with one another, and made a trip to Paris, where Alex revealed to her that he was a vampire.
Since then, after becoming long-term partners, Alex began looking more seriously into the small-time experiments he had been conducting to turn vampiric genes human again. Beginning to self-medicate with the aim of becoming human, or at least to make himself start aging again, Alex continued researching. He was eventually successful, though he went through phases where the medication would falter and vampiric genes would return. Nicola and Nazaire’s vampiric genes are the result of one of these phases.
