CASSIDY: HISTORY
Cassidy was born a part of a spider egg cluster, and many of her memories of her younger life are unclear and blurry. She is sure, however, that she started her life in spider form, and grew up separated from the siblings of her brood and her mother, after only being with them for a time. She learnt about her ability to shapeshift of her own accord when she was still young, and developed a more heightened consciousness each time she shifted, until reaching the standard human equivalent. She spent much time thereafter observing humans in spider form, and grew a childish admiration for their mobility and means of communication.
She wandered wherever her travels would take her; never worrying about food or worldly troubles thanks to how easily these issues were nullified in her spider form. Over time she was able to collect human belongings of her own, including clothing and other "trinkets" such as a cigarette lighter and toys. She began to interact with humans, but over time, became wary due to the number of encounters that ended poorly when she revealed her true nature. Because of her lack of understanding when it came to human culture versus supernatural beings, she unintentionally endangered herself many times.
But after a while, she gradually began to encounter more beings who were supernatural like herself by chance. Through this, she met an independent doctor named Chester who ran a home practice specifically fit for the needs of supernatural creatures. Cassidy reached an agreement with him to become his assistant, and began earning a small pay.
In this position, Cassidy came to understand commerce, business, and capitalism in society. As a young teen, she came to love and treasure money above all else, which fuelled her desire to work and build a career beyond what was already available to her. While working with and promoting the clinic above and beyond what Chester had planned for himself, Cassidy began to plan for her university education while working a second job at a florist.
