MELODY: HISTORY
Melody grew up in the care of her loving father, who cared for her and provided for her unconditionally in spite of the unanswered questions revolving around her mother. Melody's powers were evident from early childhood, and her father struggled for some time to figure out how to best help and maintain Melody's abilities. Ultimately, Melody did most of the discovering and learning on her own, since the concepts involved were too foreign for her human father to help with. Melody had a normal childhood through elementary school and upwards, and was able to socialize and maintain slightly above average grades. However, after an incident in her final year of middle school that resulted in her powers activating accidentally in front of another student, Melody's father came to the decision that she would be home schooled during high school. Afraid after what had happened, Melody made no argument against it.
Melody found comfort in home schooling, but grew lonely, not just for friends and regular socialization, but for the fact that she knew no-one with shared experiences as a supernatural. Without her father's knowledge, she began seeking out information about others like her, and eventually came to the (incorrect) assumption that she was psychic. She began attempting to reach out to others via online forums and groups, but was largely unsuccessful in finding legitimate peers. It was only when she had another public incident of accidentally using her powers that she struck lucky. After her accident, members of the Supernatural Guild approached her house to offer assistance in the event of Melody being unable to control her reflexive powers.
After overcoming the initial shock of being approached so suddenly, Melody became highly enthusiastic about the concept of the guild. At every step and opportunity, she eagerly tried to become more involved with the guild and its inhabitants. As soon as Melody was able to visit the guild, she networked with as many individuals as she could-- specifically psychics, historians, and researchers. Once a fortnight, she would make visits to the guild to use its facilities and study their research materials in search of more information that might pertain to herself. Eventually, the local staff offered her an assistant position at the guild. Currently, she undertakes this part-time, but will takeover full-time once she finishes her education.
